About Gray Bay / Sandspit
A favourite recreation site for locals and visitors alike is the campground at Gray Bay. This site is about 45 minutes drive south of Sandspit along the Copper Bay Main gravel road. The turnoff to Gray Bay is well marked.
Gray Bay is a 5 km crescent-shaped beach open to the Hecate Stait to the east. The fine sand beach is great for walking, flying kites, beachcombing, kayak surfing, and accessing various hiking trails.
A Sani-Station and other amenities (grocery and liquor store, laudromat, showers, restaurants, gas station etc) are located in the community of Sandspit.
Please be advised that all public camping sites on Moresby Island are accessible only by logging roads (4x4 vehicles recommended). Please check at Sandspit Visitor Info Centre located at Sandspit Airport for up to date road and hauling conditions.
